What is fuel ?
Fuel is defined as a substance which produces Heat Energy on combustion. Carbon and Hydrogen are the combustible elements of fuel.
During combustion, a Fuel undergoes different chemical reactions due to which Heat energy is released.
Different types of fuel
- Solid Fuel
- Liquid Fuel
- Gaseous Fuel
- Solid Fuel : Solid fuel are those which are present in solid state. Example for Solid fuel are wood, peat, coal etc. are primary form of solid fuel and coke charcoal briquettes etc. are secondary form of solid fuel.
- Liquid Fuel : Liquid fuel are those which are present in liquid state. Example for Liquid fuel are Petroleum, are primary form of solid fuel and LPG Kerosene & Petrol or Diesel etc. are secondary form of Liquid fuel.
- Gaseous Fuel : Gaseous fuel are those which are present in gaseous state. Example for Gaseous Fuel are Natural gas, are primary form of gaseous fuel and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), Propane, Ethane & Coal gas etc. are secondary form of gaseous fuel.
